What We Saw during New York Fashion Week FW'17
If you are still wondering which trends will be in for Fall; don't worry, I'll fill you in on the details!! Being a part of New York Fashion Week is a perfect way to know what's going to be in style and the trends we will be seeing the most this year.
Before discussing this year's trends, we have to mention how fashion had a clear political statement this year! A considerable number of designers, bloggers and models had an underlying message to share with the world, starting with By Robert James at New York Men's Day in early February. The message was loud and clear with signs held by models that read, #BRIDGES NOT WALLS. White bandanas tied around some of the models and designers' wrists like what we saw at Phillip Lim and Calvin Klein's show or statement t-shirts worn by bloggers around New York City streets.
Back to the runways, many styles and trends stole the show with exquisite colored furs in deep blue, green and rust. Romance was in the air at Zimmerman with ruffles, lace and fringe. This year we will see a lot of royal blue, rust and kelly green not to mention canary yellow which was the one color we saw at many of the shows in various hues. Velvet is a trend that is definitely staying one more season and will be seen a lot during next fall.
One other highlight of NYFW 2017 is Oscar de la Renta and Monse's show where two collections were shown at the same time as the models crisscrossed while walking the runway signifying the merging of the two worlds. The classic Oscar style was revived again with the full dresses and petticoats, cinched waists and undeniably beading that Oscar is known for. In short, the show was stunning.
